What to do when someone crosses the boundary line with you?
Use these only in extreme cases. If the other person will be very rogue then the turns of event may be troublesome for you too.
#1. I’ll register an FIR against you.
It will work most of the time until & unless the other person is very rogue. No one in India wants to get into “police chakkar”. So, it will surely discipline the person misbehaving with you.
#2. I’ll serve a legal notice to you.
If someone has crossed the legal boundaries then tell him/her that you can send legal notice to them.
Again, no one in India wants to get trapped in judicial matters. It involves lots of money, time & effort.
## Is it Blackmailing?
No. It just shows that you are aware of your legal rights. You know how to treat people if they cross the limits. The state offers you protection against oppression, attacks, etc. so you must not tolerate them.
P.S. Have I used it? Yes. The Hostel Warden used to come to our hostel drunk at late night. He used to shout, howl & was abusive. He did this repeatedly. One night I lost my cool & called the Director of the institute & informed him about the same & further added that if this continues then I’ll register an FIR against the warden. The warden didn’t repeated his such acts again.
