Why is time spend with family meaningful but a waste if spent on friends?

I came across this question on quora. Quite interesting. Couldn’t stop answering it. So, here’s my take on it:

“Blood is thicker than water”.

Sometimes, even the friends you trust the most may stab you.

Friend may kill you.

But that rarely happens in case of siblings. They may quarrel & fight but ultimately support each other in times of crisis.

## Element of Benefit.

Many a times friendships are not the result of mutual love & concern for each other but utility.

So, it is hard to believe that if at foundation lies mutual benefit the friendship will stand firm in devastating situations. Hence, the breakage of bond is inevitable.

As per some experiences (you can verify from any IT- sector employee of age > 50) that if you work in IT-sector for more than 30 years then too “to find a single good friend is difficult”. Mark these words!

## What I do.

I constantly try to remain in touch with 10-15 college buddies. You can only trust close college friends to stand by you when you need them.

Family is like this. No secrets kept.

In case of family you don’t have to think about spending time with. They mean everything to you. While in case of friends, be careful!

With Great Love,
